cool part-time internship opp at startup

This looks like a really fun chance to get involved with a startup this spring. StudySoup says they're a peer-to-peer learning marketplace for college students just like you to buy/sell "high quality study materials".

You might even be a customer already, or someday. But for now, it's a chance to get inside and help them develop the business and market their service through social media–ideal for an MIS student because you're a business student, you know marketing & business, but you're tech-savvy so you know how best to leverage the technologies, like social media, to achieve business goals.

It's part-time so you can keep your classes and it's 10 weeks so it'll be over before the end-of-semester crunch. They're providing mentorship so you won't just be thrown into something with no guidance. That alone could be worth the effort, but they're paying too. And they say you can work remotely or in their cool SOMA office in San Francisco. Pretty sweet. But there's only one slot and they do want someone sharp so put on your best game when you apply.

The details, including how to apply, are pasted in below. Check it out and give it a shot. Let me know if it works out.

  2. Well, it's open to anybody, actually, but the opportunities I post in this blog come from companies that actually contact me directly because they're aware of our program and hoping to get one of our students if possible. Sometimes, it's a former SJSU MIS student that calls and wants to give back to the next generation by giving our current students the first shot. Love to see that. That's not the case for this specific job, but they did reach out to me for whatever reason, and while they probably contacted other schools too, like SFSU for example, you definitely have an advantage over the random applicant from the general public. Give it a try!
