If you took 111 or 112 three semesters ago, for example, you may be "rusty" so....
MIS faculty to the rescue! They want to help you succeed and they volunteered to run a series of interactive refreshers and tutorials to review and add to what you learned in the program, just in time for interviewing season. These are free sessions but you have to RSVP (name and session date(s) for each session you will attend) to me (Timothy.Hill@sjsu.edu) and receive a confirmation that you've got a seat. First-come/First served. If you RSVP and are a no-show, you'll be dropped from all future sessions. (Space is limited and we can't afford to have you block someone else from a seat and then waste it.)
All sessions run on Fridays, 1-4pm in BBC304. The dates and topics are below. We recommend that you attend all of them you can to maximize your job potential.
2/25 - Professor Venkatsubramanyan: Intro to Python programming
3/4 - Professor Dhar: Networking Essentials & Review
3/11 - Professor Kwan: Web programming (HTML5 & Ajax)
3/18 - Professor Shirani: Database Essentials & Review
After spring break (specific dates TBA):
Systems Analysis and Design Essentials & Review (Professor Burkhard)
Intro to Linux (CompEngr graduate student Jay Mehta)
Also see my previous posting here on developing a passion for the technology. It includes action items you can do now!
NOTE: Please remember to thank your instructor. They are not being paid for this. They're taking time from the rest of their lives to be there because they want to help you succeed!
